A few weeks ago I ordered two copies of the above pictured diary. I had seen them all over the blogosphere but when Erica posted about having one each for her and her husband I loved that idea so much I decided to do the same for Gary and myself. It was supposed to be my Valentine's gift for Gary but it never arrived on time which is completely fine. Yesterday, Tuesday February 26th 2013, we both wrote our first entries.
Recently Gary and I were talking about five big goals we hope to accomplish in the next five years. I love that we now have these little diaries to record some of our growth and accomplishments. It will be fun to compare how we spent our days in a few years. Neither of us make New Year's resolutions because the resolutions you end up making are usually goals that should be attained during the span of your entire life and go without saying (reading the Bible, living in the now, eating healthy, etc.). Focusing on the bigger picture seems to be our thing at least when it comes to making goals.
Here are five big things we want to achieve in the next five years:
1. Buy a house.
2. Travel to South Africa & the USA.
3. Have one or two babies.
4. Joke: Photograph at least 5 weddings.
5. Gary: Maybe go back to school and/or change jobs.
Pretty big goals, right? We think they are attainable. Especially with the direction our lives are heading in right now. I'll be updating this list as we move along. Lots of big and small steps have already taken place to move closer to achieving our goals. The next step in line is me starting my first real job this Friday.
In five years will I be a thirty year old mother of two, part time photographer, married to a computer tech, home owner with the experience of having traveled to the USA and the tip of the African continent? Only time will tell.
Do you make big goals or do you stick to your New Year's resolutions every year?
PS: Read Kimberley's post with her five goals here. I was inspired by her post to write my very own.
